WESTERMAN EASY MONEY

We've been fans of rising Blue Flowers signee Will Westerman for a while now at TMR. 'Easy Money', the enigmatic b-side to 'Edison', is a further reminder of why we fell in love with his wonky, understated pop just over two years ago. With friend and frequent collaborator Bullion bringing his production skills to the mix once more, 'Easy Money' is a chilled-out love song turned conversation piece. Will explained, “I started out writing a love song, then it sort of morphed into more of a conversation. It’s a conversation I had many times over with someone I care about a lot. The subject matter is something I was thinking about too often. I wanted to retain a sense of romance in the music as counterpoint to where lyrics ended up, and I tried to make it so the voice appears to float within the music. The characters exist in a sort of transience.” On 'Easy Money' drunken, Connan Mockasin-y guitars glide freely throughout the track, gradually joined by uplifting synth parts that shine brightly over the quirky, minimal drum sounds; but true to form, Westerman's irresistible vocal melodies steal the show. - Holly Mullineaux
